We moved to a new city two months ago for my husband's job, and one of the hardest parts so far has been finding people we can trust, like a doctor, a dentist, and now a garage for our car. Back home we had one mechanic for almost eight years, and he knew our Range Rover Sport better than we did. He would call us when something looked worn and never pushed us to fix things that could wait. Now that we are here, the car is due for a service, and I honestly have no idea where to start. I tried asking at my husband's office, but everyone has a different answer. One colleague swears by the dealer, another says to try a small place near the industrial area, and a third just told me to search online and read the reviews. I did that, and the reviews confused me even more, because some places had very high stars but only a few comments, and others had hundreds of comments with a few angry ones in the middle. Last night I read a long post where a person explained how they chose a Range Rover Repair garage, and they said the best sign was that the workshop asked questions about how they drive and what problems they noticed before giving any price. I liked that idea, because it sounds like someone who actually cares about the car. So now I want to ask all of you. What do you look for when you visit a new workshop for the first time? Do you check how clean the place is, or what kind of cars are parked outside? Is it a good sign if they have many Range Rovers waiting, or does that just mean they are slow? Should I ask to see the diagnostic tool they use, or would that sound rude? Another thing I wonder about is the price list. Do honest garages usually give a clear price before the work starts, or do they only tell you after they open the car? And if they say they need to keep the car for three or four days, is that normal for a normal service, or a warning sign? I would love to hear how you found your own garage and how long it took before you fully trusted them. Did you test them with a small job first? Did anyone ever have a bad surprise and change garages after many years? Easy words are best for me, because I am still learning the car language. Thank you so much for reading.
